Recently, I was contacted by Modernize.com, place for home empowerment. They wanted to share with you their ideas and ways on how to turn your house into a dream home.

Open for any ideas and suggestions, they also provide on line help, so you can ask and get your answers right away! Check them and find solutions!
Also, they wanted to share with you some simple ideas on how to make your home look more elegant.

Simple Touches to Make Your Home Look More Elegant

Scanning through home improvement channels, dreaming of upgrading your kitchen without weeks of construction? We get it. Here at Modernize, we know updating your home may seem like a huge undertaking. But it doesn’t have to be! Simple touches can transform a space from simply liveable to classically elegant. Here are a few of our favorite solutions.
Fresh Paint Goes a Long Way
If you’ve been wanting to repaint for a while, indulge! Applying fresh paint will brighten up any space. Research states that color can affect our moods, and shades like slate gray and cool blue have calming effects. Shades of red stimulate conversation and bright colors can make you feel happier. That’s something to keep in mind if you don’t know where to start, but of course, go for the colors you love the most. This is your space, after all! You can even use eco-friendly paint with low VOCs to reduce your carbon footprint.

Build your color scheme with your paint hue as a base. Search for coordinating patterns and fabrics for upholstery and throw pillows, and add pops of accent colors through accessories.

Be sure to freshen up your baseboards and crown molding. If your space doesn’t have crown molding, consider installing this detail to up your elegance factor.

Let Your Light Shine

Natural light does a lot of good for our bodies, from providing vitamin D to boosting our moods. Utilize natural light by opening up windows and positioning seating near those happy rays of sunlight. Use eco-friendly double- or triple-pane windows that protect your furniture and skin from UV damage.

Artificial lighting can also boost the aesthetic and tone of a space. Interesting light fixtures can serve as focal points or conversation pieces. We love to browse through flea markets, thrift stores and antique shops for old-world-style light fixtures, or even modern treasures. Installing bright track lighting is another great solution. Light will reflect on your fresh paint, and you’ll be in a brighter, happier space.

Let Your Art Do the Work
A great way to make any space elegant is to display a series of sophisticated artwork. If you’re a collector, display your fine art with pride. However, we know that collecting can be expensive, so we suggest looking for art from vendor or craft fairs. You can even make your own abstract art and show it off to the world!

Complement modern art with fun, vibrant accessories, and classical art with simple, elegant accessories. The cohesive aesthetic will work wonders for the space’s style

Cut Down the Clutter

If you have a crowded space, it’s time to take control and organize the chaos. Reducing clutter in every space will turn the focus to the space’s aesthetic, rather than your kiddos’ toys strewn about.

When selecting furniture for your space, always opt for storage. Cabinets can house toys, household items, electronics and more, but on the outside they’ll look sophisticated and blend right into your style. No one will ever know what’s inside!

When choosing accessories and decorative trinkets, keep things simple to eliminate a crowded feeling. We love to use narrow vases with fresh flowers for end tables, and mix books with small accessories on bookshelves. Choose furniture that truly fits your space, so you don’t have to sidestep around it.

Elegance doesn’t always have to equal weeks of hard work and unexpected complications. Sometimes simple touches and upgrades do the most for your space—and your bank account!

"Dear Vesna, it`s very nice of you as you want to give me support about my book. The book is my baby and I'm very pleased. It is written in a very private way and related with my blog and childhood. As a very little girl I started to decorate and never stopped. It fills me up and makes you happy. There are many sad and ugly things in life, but I want to show that there is another side, nice and not so complicated, that every woman can afford a flower from the garden and hand-painted eggs for Easter. I love people and events and I'm not materialistic person.I love the sun, flowers and dear ones around me. And I appreciate friendship."

To me ispunjava i čini sretnom. Volim ljude i dogadjaje, nisam materijalista. Volim sunce i cvijece i drage osobe oko mene. Cijenim prijateljstvo."

Njena posebnost izrazila se i u odabiru stila kojim živi i kojim odišu njen vrt, dom, njena popodneva, kafa s prijateljicama. Dragana poručuje -  nismo savršeni, nikada ništa nije završeno  i zato mijenjajmo sebe i svijet oko nas. A promjene pravi u specifičnom i doskora nepoznatom nam stilu i filozofiji  života : shabbi (šabi) šiku, to jest stilu.
I beton...
I mnogo , mnogo bijelog.

Today I have the pleasure to introduce Sue Jason, blogger at My Bathrooms Blog. I think you'll find some great ideas in this post.

Danas imam zadovoljstvo da vam predstavim Sue Jason, blogera sa bloga My Bathrooms Blog. Mislim da ćete pronaći nekoliko sjajnih ideja u njenom postu.

"Hi my name is Sue Jason and I am a blogger at My-bathrooms blog. Today Vesna has given me a chance to share some of my decorative ideas on her wonderful blog. In this post I will explain how you can make your bathrooms more appealing by just adding a dash of paint! So grab your paint brush, pair of gloves and a bucket of paint! You may follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Google Plus".

Painless Ways to Use Paint in Your Bathroom

Few people use wallpaper in bathrooms, even though there are some wallpapers that arewaterproof and suitable for use in humid and steamy rooms. Painting the bathroom can be a trial, with drips landing in awkward places and drying before they can be removed. The difficulty is enhanced by the quality of paint that should be used, as it is designed to stick tight to surfaces!

Best Quality

Despite this ‘con’, do not be tempted to use cheaper paints in the bathroom as they will run and pick up dirt and staining – not to mention mould and mildew. Always buy paint that is appropriate for use in the bathroom as this will be washable, stain and damp resistant and will save you hours of scrubbing and cleaning in the long run. Apply at least two coats and be prepared to put on a third if necessary. After all, you want your walls to look good for a long time, not just a few months. If you are not keen on plain paint effects you can try your hand at stippling or marbling your walls.

Stippling

Source

Stippling is achieved by applying a base coat (or two) and allowing it to dry completely. Next, take a dry sponge or paintbrush and just barely dip it into the secondary paint. Very lightly, dab the almost dry sponge or brush onto the walls, leaving behind small ‘splodges’ of color behind. Once the sponge or brush is no longer leaving any marks behind, you can reload it with paint and repeat until the entire surface is covered. A similar, but more striped effect can be achieved by roughly rolling a length of old fabric or newspaper and rolling it onto bare walls. Be prepared to practice these techniques on a small section of wall until you are comfortable with the process.
Marbling

Paint broad, rough diagonal lines on the wall in two different colors and allow this to dry. Mix or buy a transparent colored glaze and go over the rough stripes, adding smaller stripes and dots. (Look at pictures of marble before beginning this stage for inspiration!) Work the lines in the same direction as the base coat. Top off with a light coat that is mainly glazing agent to finish off the look.

Stripes

Adding stripes to your bathroom has never been easier! Simply section off the area to be painted with masking tape or painters tape to create crisp sharp lines and apply your chosen colors!
